Route: Thermal Baths – Bad Ragaz – Neugüeter

Bad Ragaz (502 m above sea level) lies at the valley entrance of the Taminatal valley in the cantonal area of St. Gallen in the Rhine Valley. The more than 1,000-km-long Rhine empties into the North Sea and has one of its source regions at the Graubünden Oberalp Pass (2,044 m above sea level). The highway A13 coming from Chur (595 m above sea level) splits northwest of Bad Ragaz towards Lake Walen in the west and Lake Constance north of it. Bad Ragaz is known for its thermal baths.

The health resort in the Sarganserland region supplies its baths from the Tamina Gorge, where near Bad Pfäffers (680 m above sea level) 36.5-°C-warm thermal water springs from a source which has been known since the 13th century. The skiing area of Pizol can be accessed via a gondola cableway from Bad Ragaz via Pardiel (1,627 m above sea level). The Pizol (2,844 m above sea level) lies southwest of the valley town.
