Route: Lötschenlücke – Lang Glacier (Lötschental) – Anun Glacier – Jegichnubel
The Lötschenlücke (3,173 m above sea level) is a heavily glaciated mountain pass in the Bernese Alps. It is situated between the Mittaghorn (3,892 m above sea level) and the Sattelhorn (3,745 m above sea level) and forms a popular passageway from the Lötschental valley to Concordia (Konkordiaplatz) at the Great Aletsch Glacier. Above it lies the Hollandia Hut (3,240 m above sea level), which was closed in 2010, along the popular route for ski tours Jungfraujoch – Lötschenlücke – Fafleralp – Blatten.
The Lang Glacier is a valley glacier in the Lötschental valley (canton of Valais). It is approx. 6 km long and originates from two tributaries. The larger of the two tributaries is called Anun Glacier and originates at the southern flank of the glaciated Mittaghorn. The lower section of the Lang Glacier is only 500 m wide. The glacier tongue drains into the river Lonza, which runs through the Lötschental to the river Rhone.
