Route: Deitingen – Luterbach – Zuchwil – Solothurn-Ost (Exit A5)
Luterbach (431 m above sea level) is a municipality in the Wasseramt district and is situated 3.5 km east of the cantonal capital of Solothurn. The village extends across the gravel plain east of the Emme river at the southern foot of the Jura in the Solothurn Mittelland.
The Aar is a natural municipal boundary in the north. The Emme separates Luterbach from Zuchwil towards the west. In the past, large parts of the plain of Luterbach were frequently flooded when the water level was high. Therefore, the original village was built about 1 km away from the rivers. Towards the east, Luterbach extends across the plain and the canalized creek beds of the Dorfbach and the Rüttibach up to the Dornwald forest and the Affolterwald forest. The Vorholz settlement (431 m above sea level) by the Rüttibach also belongs to Luterbach. Neighboring municipalities of Luterbach are Deitingen, Derendingen, Riedholz and Zuchwil.
Zuchwil (433 m above sea level) is a municipality in the Wasseramt district and is, after Solothurn, Olten and Grenchen and as a suburb of the city of Solothurn, the fourth largest municipality of the canton in terms of population.
