Route: Le Brit – Lèvremont – Les Délices
The Vaud village of Apples (639 m above sea level) lies north of Lac Léman (Lake Geneva) in the Gros de Vaud. Due to its fertile ground, the high plain is also called «Granary of the Vaud». Apples is located along the BAM (Bière-Apples-Morges) route. This railway line connects Bière (698 m above sea level) at the southern foot of the Jura with Morges (374 m above sea level) on Lake Geneva. More than anything, the military barracks built in Bière in 1873 were the decisive incentive to set up the line.
The settlement history of Apples dates back to the Neolithic Age. Findings from the Bronze Age and from Roman times were also made on the municipal area.
