Route: Zurich, Main Railway Station – Bahnhofstrasse – Rennweg – Church St. Peter
Zurich lies in the center of Europe and in the heart of Switzerland at the northern tip of Lake Zurich.
The main railway station in the city center, which is only a 10-minute train ride away from the international Zurich Airport, is a European rail junction.
There are approximately 100 Bahnhofstrassen in Europe. Only one has become world-famous – Zurich’s Bahnhofstrasse. It lies in the city center, is 1.4 km-long and a highly frequented shopping street. It runs from the main railway station southwards across Paradeplatz up to Bürkliplatz at Lake Zurich and is divided into two sections: Obere and Untere Bahnhofstrasse. Parts of Bahnhofstrasse lie along the traditional parade route of the guilds during the Sechseläuten festivities. Bahnhofstrasse is also included in other large events, such as the Street Parade.
St. Peter is one of the three churches in the old town that characterize the skyline of Zurich. It is situated on a hill in the old town to the left of the river close to the Lindenhof, where Roman settlements and the imperial palace were located.
